Saul of Tarsus later called Paul and finally St. Paul is a bibilical figure credited for exporting the good news from Jerusalem(Palestine) to Rome(Europe). A man of gusty determination and dogged with persistence, sharpness of mind and ability to fight his own corner isadmired by most bible readers.
Looking at him, no one can doubt that this briliant, academically able, Jerusalem trained rabbi had been utterly transformed by a powerfull conviction. His earlier belief underwent total averhaul and he became an ardent advocate of Jesus as the true messiah of Israel. This conviction so engrained in him drove him throught the rest of his life. It propelled him far away from home, tarsus and Jerusalem to the various places we will discover in this place(steps of Paul).
At this place, you will be taken on a wide ranging tour of an area extending to 1400 miles(2250kms) i.e Jerusalem to Rome, with a host of cities and places in between.
People who walk in the 'Steps of Paul' are often moved to an admiration of this man especially asking, 'why was this man so prepared to travel - on foot, by boat, or mule for a cause he was initially determined to exterminate? What was now the passion that drove him? For those who have never visitedrugged Cilician gates in southern Turkey today, looked out over the blek shoes of Malt, walk in the ('steps of Paul, Kenya' will have a profoundly experience.
Taking people in a walk in the Steps of Paul, Kenya is an enjoyable enterprise. I have taken hundreds of pilgrims to HolyLand Kenya especially "Walk in Steps of Jesus" for the last two years without interruption.
Walk in the "Steps of Paul" is a sequel to "Walk in steps of Jesus" just like the book of Acts is a sequel to the Gospel of Luke.
Every time i walk in this place, I have found it spiritualy fulfilling, yeilding new insights into the bible story and what it means to me.
I invite you to join me in Paul's journey, to fillow his movements and learn from him on the road. Special thanks to Professor Peter Walker, author of Steps of Jesus and Steps of St. Paul. All what i have done is basically reading from his highly informative publications and put it on the ground in Kenya.
In the "Walk in steps of Jesus", the journey ended in Jerusalem and the apostles yeilded to Jesus command to wait in Jerusalem until they recieved power to become his witness beginning in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria.
We start with Paul the strict Jewish rabbi overseeing the murder of Stephen, then the fello breathing fire heads towards Damascus to disseminate the people of the way. After the Damscus experience we join the newly converted Saul in Damascus. Back to Jerusalem, the disciples reluctantly and after persuassion accept him in their fold. A few days later, he has to be slipped away for his saftey to Caesarea before heading onward to his hometown of Tarsus where he remains until Barnabus seeks him fo mission at Antioch. We follow him on 1st, 2nd and 3rd mission journeys before his final return to Jerusalem. Under chains he leaves the holy city to Caesarea and eventually after several detours arrives in Rome.
Along these journeys, Paul carries the message of the Good news, albeit according to Luke's plot, from Jerusalem, to Judea, Samaria and to the end of the world(acts1:8). It's important to notice how early Pauls's intention to go to Rome comes in the story by Luke i.e Acts 19:21. It is not until Acts 28:14 that he eventually arrives in this city. Steps of Paul are on the work of Paul, yet it proves a fruitful companionship for anybody seeking to understand the book of Acts. As we experience the complexity but well defined worlds of Pau, we also get to locate his heart and follow it.
